The GSMA Mobile 360 Series presents a conference platform cultivating regional engagement through topics that are impacting the mobile industry on both a localised and global scale. This year, the conference was held in Dar es salaam Tanzania. Hundreds of individuals, industry leaders, regulators, companies and politicians attended the GSMA Mobile 360 Series. The core theme of the conference was based on mobile as a platform for achieving SDGs [sustainable development goals] in Africa. Over the course of the conference, multiple workshops and presentations were held by Government officials, Regulators, NGOs, tech startups and other leaders in the industry.
ClickPesa attended a series of talks and debates with particular emphasis on collaboration practices between governments and the mobile industry to deliver social and digital transformation. Brave new innovative companies taking initiatives in the mobile industry where examined and celebrated. Presentations and panel discussions highlighted the positive impact of mobile-enabled solutions on individuals and communities. They also stressed the need for greater collaboration between stakeholders; governments, mobile operators, other ecosystem players, the private sector and development agencies, to enhance access to connectivity and sustain the delivery of life-enhancing services to under-served populations across the region.
The highlight for the ClickPesa team was the Huawei booth. Huawei displayed their Internet of Things solutions and mobile money platform which runs the Vodacom M-Pesa platform. Huawei’s mobile-money platform delivered an end-to-end solution to enable customers with a simple, efficient and secure money transfer. This platform currently enables users to send and receive money, top-up airtime and make bill payments using their mobile phones either through USSD, NFC, QR code and NSDT.
